DEC! Perth Academy – Surveying Lesson
Balfour Beatty has sponsored local high school, Perth Academy to fund the delivery of the ambitious Design, Engineer, Construct! Programme (DEC!), an accredited learning programme for secondary-school age students and has been expertly developed to create and inspire the next generation of Built Environment professionals.
Perth and Kinross Doors Open Day 2017
Balfour Beatty, in collaboration with the client team from Perth and Kinross Council, participated in the Perth and Kinross “Open Doors Day 2017” event allowing members of the community to visit the site offices and see, first-hand, the great work that is being done to bring the Perth Transport Futures Project to fruition.
Cleaning the Perth Lade
Members of the PTF Project Team volunteered their time to work with the local community to clean up Perth’s historic lade.
HMP Castle Huntly – Community Projects Team
In order to expand on the work that Perth and Kinross Council and Balfour Beatty have been doing to engage with those with a background of offending, the team at Perth Transport Futures Project (PTFP) met with Mark Steadman, Offenders Outcome Officer at HMP Castle Huntly Open Prison, to discuss any opportunities to engage with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) through our works on the project.
Developing the Young Workforce – Promoting Modern Apprenticeships
Continuing our close relationship with the Developing the Young Workforce team in Perth and Kinross, we worked with Donna Kudarenko, Employer Engagement Advisor, to produce a short video to promote modern apprenticeships.
Fish Rescues
Electrofishing is a common scientific survey method used to sample fish populations to determine abundance, density and species composition. When performed correctly, electrofishing results in no permanent harm to fish, which return to their natural state in as little as two minutes after being caught.
Pictish Carving
Whilst completing earthworks operations on site, Alex Campbell and Bryce Prentice made what would turn out to be a significant archaeological find. Their actions ensured that an important piece of Perth and Kinross’s history was able to be presented and studied.
HMP Castle Huntly – Community Projects Team
The Balfour Beatty Team at PTFP arranged with HMP Castle Huntly to provide an assignment for the Community Projects team which started on site on the 15th January. The team worked to build a woodland footpath around Perth Crematorium.
2017 Beast Race – Banchory
Balfour Beatty staff and members of the client team at Perth and Kinross Council took on the punishing ‘Beast Race’ in order to raise money for CHAS (Children’s Hospices across Scotland).
Letham GFC – U11 Girls Football Team
