Sebastien Merone – Work Experience
As part of the SCAPE framework requirements for the A9/A85 Perth Transport Futures Project, Balfour Beatty, in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council are required to demonstrate a commitment to employment opportunities and skills development throughout the duration of the contract.
Promoting Modern Apprenticeships with DYW at Morrison Academy, Crieff
Resident ‘celebrity’ apprentice, Bethany Welsh, represented Balfour Beatty and the Perth Transport Futures Project (PTFP) by assisting Developing the Young Workforce Manager, Fiona Reith, at a parents evening at Morrison’s Academy in Crieff.
DEC! – Deputy First Ministers Visit
Balfour Beatty’s support of the DEC! programme caught the eye of Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, John Swinney MSP, and he paid the school a visit on the 16th March to meet the pupils and learn more about the class.
HMP Castle Huntly – Community Projects Team
In order to expand on the work that Perth and Kinross Council and Balfour Beatty have been doing to engage with those with a background of offending, the team at Perth Transport Futures Project (PTFP) met with Mark Steadman, Offenders Outcome Officer at HMP Castle Huntly Open Prison, to discuss any opportunities to engage with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) through our works on the project.
Developing the Young Workforce – Promoting Modern Apprenticeships
Continuing our close relationship with the Developing the Young Workforce team in Perth and Kinross, we worked with Donna Kudarenko, Employer Engagement Advisor, to produce a short video to promote modern apprenticeships.

As part of Balfour Beatty’s commitment to engaging with and inspiring the next generation of construction professionals, Community Benefits Advisor, Duncan Gardner, attended Perth Grammar’s Careers Fair to talk about careers in Construction with Balfour Beatty.

Work Experience JB Safesite
As part of the SCAPE framework requirements for our A9/A85 Junction Improvements and Link Road to Bertha Park Phase 1 Project and Almondbank Flood Prevention Scheme, ten unemployed people received six weeks on and offsite training in conjunction with JB Safesite Training.
