When
February 2023
Who

The Challenge
PKAVS Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub provides support and opportunities to people recovering from mental health and wellbeing difficulties within the Perth & Kinross area. PKAVS are committed to supporting the journey of recovery using an integrative care approach, and facilitate meaningful and therapeutic activities at their walled garden hub. The composting bays in the walled garden are in poor condition and require to be upgraded so they can be used safely. PKAVS were looking for donations of materials and wheelbarrows to enable them to expand and heighten the bays.
The Activity
The team at the Cross Tay Link Road project reached out to their supply chain for assistance with the delivery of some of our community benefits projects. Highland Industrial Supplies (HIS Ltd) were quick to come forward with the very generous donation of five wheelbarrows and seventy bags of cement. Samantha Steven of BAM Nuttall arranged with HIS Ltd Area Manager, Ian Young and PKAVS Activity Engagement Worker, Lyndsey Milne to drop off the goods at the hub.
The Result
The walled garden is part of PKAVS Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, based in the grounds of the Murray Royal hospital just minutes from Perth city centre, and is a tranquil haven for people recovering from mental illness and members of the public alike. This donation will help to ensure it is a safe environment where people can develop new skills, gain confidence, and meet new people.
The Cross Tay Link Road is phase two of the Perth Transport Futures project which will deliver a more efficient and better-connected transport system and a cleaner city centre environment.
